About
Jenny Hill, saxophones and flutes, is a composer, arranger, performer and also leads her own band Liquid Horn, a jazz sextet featuring her own compositions. Jenny was recently awarded a 2023 Performance Plus grant from Chamber Music America to rehearse and record her own music, and also a 2023 Arts Alive grant from ArtsWestchester to compose and perform.
She is currently a member of Lioness, an all-female jazz sextet, the Easy Star All-Stars, a reggae dub project, and recently played on Grammy-nominated Heavy Load by Govt Mule band. She played on the Easy Star All-Stars’ newest release, Ziggy Stardub, and is finishing her 5th CD, Floating.
Led by saxophonist/flautist/composer Jenny Hill, Liquid Horn presents a rich sampling of jazz, South American and Caribbean grooves and the funky side of Brooklyn. Formed in 1998, Jenny Hill and Liquid Horn have performed at the Blue Note in NYC, the CIVEBRA music conference in Brasilia, Brazil, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, The Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn’s Ethical Cultural Society, the Metrotech concert series, the Urban League of Cincinnati’s Gala, Club Infinu, the Clube do Choro and Gates Pub in Brasilia, and other New York jazz venues such as 55 Bar.
The group has released 4 Cds: Groove Garden, The Chill Factor, Planet Sax, and Liquid Horn. A Berklee graduate, Jenny Hill has been the recipient of many honors including a 2023 Performance Plus grant from Chamber Music America, a National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Studies grant with Joe Lovano, the 2023 Arts Alive grant from Westchester Arts Council, winner in the JAZZIZ Woodwinds On Fire competition, and the Lennie Johnson Outstanding Musician scholarship from Berklee College.
Bill Milkowski of Jazz Times calls her “an accomplished composer-arranger and first-rate soloist, with some bold playing on tenor, soprano and flute. Highly recommended.”
Jenny’s resume includes touring/performing with her own band Liquid Horn, Govt Mule, Lioness, Denis Leary, the Easy Star All-Stars, the Black Rock Coalition, the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, the Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet, Burning Spear, Maxi Priest, and others. She has been in the pit orchestra for Rock and Roll Man, Hair: The Musical, Sweet Charity, and many other productions.

Jenny’s jazz credits include performing with Nancy Wilson, Dianne Schuur, Clark Terry, Dave Brubeck, Joe Williams, and Cab Calloway while a member of the DIVA jazz orchestra. She performed with Maurice Hines in “Tappin’ Thru Life” for 5 weeks at the Cleveland Playhouse. Jenny and Liquid Horn were guest artists at the international music conference CIVEBRA, in Brasilia, Brazil. Jenny is a featured artist in the books Practice Like The Pros by Sue Terry and Rock and Roll Saxophone by John Laughter. She performed for the King of Morocco in Agadir.
